SO. You know that package I was anxiously waiting for?
Yeah, it's here.
My new cell phone is a Sharp 903sh - and yes it DOES work in the US! Some Japanese phones have GSM capabilities so their owners can use it overseas, but by default people like me cannot use them because all Japanese cell phones are locked to their providers. However, there are people who provide unlocking services, and that is how I am able to use it :D I didn't want to talk about it before hand because I wasn't sure that I would have a strong enough signal on 1900mhz (Cingular uses primarily 1900/850 - the phone does 1900, 1800 and 900) to actually use it and I didn't want to jinx anything (^^;;;) It wasn't cheap, but I love it to pieces so it was totally worth it (*___*)
So obviously my AU phone from my time abroad has great sentimental value for me, even though it's not useable in the US at all, so I like to keep it around, use it for playing Tetris, etc. XD But I let the battery run down so its date and time became horribly incorrect (February 6th, 2005 anyone?) I spent so much time going through menus I thought would change it and became so frustrated I gave up...
But today, in a burst of inspiration, I tried another route and finally found the location of "Manual Correction" for the date/time!! Now it's back to normal!
Part of the reason this is so cool is it makes a great watch because of the exterior display, and I can use it for an alarm as its vibration setting is much higher than anything my Nokia 6102i can do (it's so faint I can't feel/hear it when it's in my purse :P totally useless!). I wish I could use it in the US because I'm dearly attached to it, but I think I've found a happy medium (assuming it works well...) but I won't jinx that just yet~~
